Shopping is one of great pleasures of a trip to Turkey, and the rich variety of Turkish crafts make it impossible to resist buying something.Alongside the most modern objects, traditional handicrafts from villages and provinces can be found.There are practical things for the home and kitchen, but a long side there are many decorative items,often in the traditional Turkish style.The most popular objects for the holiday makers are, of course, carpets; but the various leather and suede goods, copper and bronze wares, silver, ceramics, handicrafts, embroidery, and the famous Turkish meerschaum and onxy are on many shopping lists.



Grand Bazaar (Kapalıçarşi)

This bazaar was firs built by Sultan Mehmet the Conqueror and was expanded during the reign of Sultan Süleyman the Great (1520-1566), and reached its present form in 1701. Is extends over 65 streets, coverting an area of 30.702 square meters. It contains a mosque, 21 inns, two vaulted bazaars, seven fountains, a well and 3300 shops. It possesses 18 gates, eight of them large, ten of then smaller. It has surrived five fires, and has been restored and repaired and has reached our present times.

Meerschaum - It is a hydrous magnesium silicate-a clay-like material which is carved into a pipe. It is a unique material found in Eskisehir. The beautiful pipes carved out of this stone are recommended highly for usage and decorative purchases.
